Ars Magica: Fallen Alliances
The Most Serene Republic of Genoa is a sovereign city with its own territories, including much of the territories that surround the covenant. An important trade city with a strong naval force, Genoese merchants compete with Nice, Pisa, and Venice for trade rights, though Nice and Pisa have both declined in the recent decades, leaving Venice as Genoa’s strongest rival as they split control of the slave trade.
The relics of Saint John the Baptist is controlled by the city, having been rewarded with the saint’s remains after the first crusade. Genoa also controls a lordship and incomes of one-third of many other cities in the middle east after allying with the King of Jerusalem. They also control a one-third lordship of Leon through one of their citizens, Otto de Bonvilliano.
